Still Missing - Chevy Stevens

Title: Still Missing
Author: Chevy Stevens
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Genre:
Pages: 368
Rating: 4 Stars

Goodreads Summary: On the day she was abducted, Annie O' Sullivan, a 32-year old realtor, had three goals - sell a house, forget about a recent argument with her mother, and be on time for dinner with her ever-patient boyfriend. The open house is slow, but when her last visitor pulls up in a van as she's about to leave, Annie thinks it just might be her lucky day after all.
Interwoven with the story of the year Annie spent as the captive of a psychopath in a remote mountain cabin, which unfolds through sessions with her psychiatrist, is a second narrative recounting events following her escape - her struggle to piece her shattered life back together and the ongoing police investigation into the identity of her captor.

This book for me was rough to get through at first. I really wanted to read it because the synopsis was so intriguing but it was also terrifying to me! I first picked it up to just get a break from all of the dystopian, paranormal and sci-fi based novels I have been reading. I would be reading and get so into the story that I would realize I was holding my breath or my heart would be racing a little bit! The way this book is told through Annie's therapy sessions really helps you connect with how she's feeling and just how horrific it was for her.

I read this book in a matter of two days, the only time I would stop was when I actually needed a break from it because it was just so intense that I would get wrapped up in the story and psych myself out! I watch all of those shows, like Criminal Minds and Law & ORder: SVU and I used to watch Without a Trace, but reading it is so different. When you're watching those shows and someone is abducted or trying to escape, the episode is only 40 something minutes long and you only get what the show gives you. Reading about it is so different, you know what's going on in her head and see it through her eyes.

The ending wasn't something I expected at all. It was such a plot twist and so crazy, I just couldn't believe it! This book really was so intriguing and captivating the entire time, I could rarely put it down once I picked it up. If you like thrillers and mysteries, or are a fan of The Lovely Bones, you will definitely love this book!
