C25k iPhone App!
I love, love, love this app right now! I am a horrible runner, the longest I've ever run consecutively on the treadmill is 5 minutes..and that was one time. I've always wanted to increase my running endurance and get to a place where i could actually enjoy it. This app builds you up over 8 weeks, from the couch to being able to run the distance of a 5k without stopping. Week 1 is even hard for me, where it alternates you between 60 seconds of running and 90 seconds of walking for 20 minutes, with a 5 minute warm-up and cool down. By the time that half an hour is done, I am pouring sweat and borderline hyperventilating! Sad, I know. This app also supports breast cancer the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, with it's slogan being "Run for pink". I really love the voice prompts of this app. Instead of having to keep checking the time, the app will prompt you when to run, when to walk, when you're halfway done, it's really great. It also is compatible with your workout playlist. I find that a lot of apps wont work at the same time or have some glitches, but this app really works with your music making it even more enjoyable and helpful!
Season 6 of Dexter!
My best friend started watching this show a couple of semesters ago and kept trying to get me to watch it but I was deadset on never watching it because I was convinced that it just wasn't my thing. Boy, was I wrong! This show is so intriguing and just so addicting that if I start watching it, I won't be able to shut it off the entire day. I watched the first two seasons in 2 or 3 days, I just couldn't stop. Not going to lie, I'm a little squeamish, so I have to look away some of the time because of all of the blood. One of the things I find most exciting is how Dexter is constantly always almost getting caught. He's always so close but somehow gets himself out of it! Honestly, this show scares me but is so interesting at the same time!
Nook Color!
I bought a Nook Color about a month or so ago and I'm absolutely in love with it! I love actual paper books, don't get me wrong. Nothing can replace the feeling of holding an actual book and turning it's pages and marking pages but sometimes an e-reader is just so convenient! I've read so many more books than I would of with actual physical books. A friend told me I would be able to swap books with her through our nooks and that I would be able to get library books on my nook from the town library site and I was hooked. Rather than having to drive to the bookstore and spend ridiculous amounts of money (because I can't just buy a few) or trek to the library and have to remember when to return them (I'm always late), I can get them instantly. I'll go on live-brary.com and take out 4 or 5 ebooks at a time and finish them in 2 weeks, 3 tops. It's just so convenient to carry so many books on this super light, little e-reader! Also, I breeze through books and am running out of bookshelf space. Rather than wasting money on books I'm only going to read once, I'd rather just get the ebook from the library. Saving money, paper and time!
What's your take on e-readers? Yay or nay?
